The National Career Service (NCS) initiative, India’s largest employment programme brings job opportunities closer to trainees of Indian Technical Institutes (ITIs).
The NCS offers them work opportunities in three different ways. On one hand, NCS connects them with job opportunities in private and government sector whereas on the other, NCS offers them to work as self-employed as they can register themselves as local service providers like drivers, electricians, plumbers etc. Any household desiring to avail their services can directly contact them through NCS Portal, and pay them according to their work rate mentioned at the portal.
Manu Sakunia, young professional working with Ministry of Labour & Employment, Government of India said here at a workshop organised for the ITI trainees of Goa that the ITI trainees can get information on self-employment schemes like MUDRA, Startup India and others at NCS Portal.
NCS initiative also has a national toll-free helpline number – 1800-425-1514 to assist those who are not IT literate and do not have internet connection in their mobile phones/computers. A Model Career Centre under NCS has also been established at Regional Employment Exchange, Panaji to assist jobseekers in accessing NCS services, said a spokesperson of the state government on Thursday.
