The Kochi-based NeSt Group has introduced patented Japanese technology to clean up polluted water bodies.

The company, as part of its CSR initiative, has taken up a 1-km stretch of the highly polluted Perandur Canal in the city as a demo project with the support of Kochi Corporation.

The trendsetting water purification system utilises micro-bubble technology to restore impure water in water bodies.

According to N. Jehangir, Vice Chairman and MD, NeSt Group, the demo project will prove how the new technology can provide a lasting solution for cleaning polluted water bodies, thereby, enabling respective agencies to take up such works. Micro-bubble technology is already in use in Japan, China and many other countries for cleaning up water resources. NeST, together with its Japanese technology partners, has been conducting studies to identify the most appropriate and environment-friendly technology suitable for Kerala conditions.
