The row over division of secretariat employees between Telangana and residuary state of Andhra Pradesh intensified on Thursday with Telangana Chief Minister-designate K Chandrasekhar Rao joining the fray.
After meeting leaders of the Telangana employees associations of different departments here on Monday, Rao said that employees who were natives of Andhra Pradesh would ‘not be allowed to enter into Telangana secretariat.’
As per the provisional allotment of employees for the two secretariats, out of a total 1,865 employees, 1,060 have been identified as belonged to Andhra Pradesh while 805 are for Telangana.
But Telangana secretariat employees association, which also staged a protest on Wednesday, had contended that about 200 staffers allotted to Telananga did not belong to the region and complained the same to the Telangana Rashtra Samithi chief today.
Narender Rao, Secretary, Telangana Secretariat Employees Association told Business Line that an action plan would be chalked out soon to ‘protect’ the interests to the region.
“We don’t want employees belonging to Andhra Pradesh to get involved in administration of Telangana. If there are surplus posts, we want them to be filled through fresh recruitment by Telangana Government,’’ he said.
Meanwhile, the joint action committee of Andhra Pradesh Employees Association had also met Chief Minister-to-be N Chandrababu Naidu and briefed him on the issues.
