Noida Board on Friday gave approval for 1 MW solar power generation plant and highway traffic management system for Noida-Greater Noida expressway.

High mast CCTV cameras would be set up at regular distance on the 22.5 kilometre long expressway, said Sanjiv Saran, CEO Noida.

The Board also gave approval to 1 MW solar power project on the UP irrigation possession land along Yamuna bank and Noida drain.

“Initially, we will set up 1 MW plant and later more plants will be set up in the city,” said Saran.

Briefing about solar energy project status in the state, Saran said solar energy projects have been undertaken in 2000 villages across 46 districts mainly for street lighting.

100 telecom towers in the state are being equipped with solar energy panels. In Noida too, several traffic signals are being run on solar energy, said Saran.

Some of the other decisions approved by the Board included Zonal office proposals at Sector 67 and Sector 137.

The fire department will be given 72-metre-long hydraulic ladder platform, 2 advance rescue tenders, two thermal imaging camers, 2 motorcycle-borne water system, 150 personal protecting clothing.
