Want to know more about the quality of diamond in your possession, or when you buy one? Jewellery and diamond house Kirtilals has launched a mobile Solitaire Lab to empower the buyer in choosing the right diamond.
First of its kindClaiming to be the first-of-its-kind facility to be extended by a jeweller to customers, Suraj Shantakumar, Director (Business Strategy), Kirtilals, said the initiative is aimed at creating awareness about the quality, cut and symmetry of the diamond amongst buyers.
“There has been a growing demand for diamond in recent years. While diamond certification is there to affirm the quality, certain dimensions such as cut, symmetry and fluorescence add to the value of the stone. With the equipments in the Solitaire Lab, the customer will be able to evaluate the true value of the diamonds,” Shantakumar told BusinessLine .
The Lab consists of the Diamond Analyser Machine commissioned by leading diamond mining company De Beers, Sarin Machine and Fluorescence Machine, all in a caravan that will move across Kirtilals’ branches. This analyser will help detect lab-grown diamond (synthetic) among hundreds of natural diamonds, while the Sarin machine is used to identify the cut of the stone and symmetry and grade the same from poor to excellent.
Furthermore, the fluorescence machine will detect the light of a diamond by exposing it to long wave ultra violet radiation, Shantakumar explained, adding, “Customers can get the stone graded and tested for free.”
