Rubbishing claims of EVM tampering, BJP chief Amit Shah said Opposition parties should be "graceful in defeat" and accept the "verdict of the people".
With reports emerging of the BJP sweeping the MCD elections, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal has questioned the neutrality of EVMs.
In an earlier instance, Opposition parties including the Congress, SP and BSP, had alleged EVM tampering after the saffron party's landslide victory in Uttar Pradesh.
According to Shah, the same EVMs were used in 2015 when Kejriwal got a landslide victory; and in earlier instances that saw UPA come to power for two full terms.
"Are they suggesting that they won with tampered EVMs? I think, Opposition parties should be graceful enough to accept defeat and take results as the opinion of the people," Shah said while adressing the media in Kolkata today.
The saffron party chief is on a three-day-tour of Bengal to rejuvenate party workers here.
"We welcome the verdict of the people. They have given a clear mandate to Narendra Modi's leadership, clean governance and development agenda," Shah said while calling the results "unexpected".
