The city mayor has proposed to have ‘sister city relationship’ between Panaji and Lisbon in a bid to ease the process of issuing visas, specially for students who want to study in Portugal.
Mayor Surendra Furtado hosted Consul General of Portugal, Francisco Durate Azavedo, at his office here this morning where he put forth the proposal.
A sister city relationship is a long-term, cooperative relationship between two cities in different countries. Goa was a Portuguese colony for around 450 years before it was liberated in 1961.
