Mysore Industries Association (MIA) has sought the help of Parliamentary Committee on Commerce and Industry for early reopening of MSME sub centre at Mysuru.

In a memorandum submitted to KC Thyagi, Chairman of Parliamentary Committee on Commerce and Industry, MIA said Small Industries Service Institute (SISI) of Ministry of MSME was earlier located at Yadavagiri Industrial Estate and was serving the needs of small-scale industry in skill development, entrepreneur development activity and functioning as a branch office of SISI was closed in 1993.

The Parliamentary Committee on Commerce and Industry headed by K C Thyagi as Chairman is touring Karnataka.

“Keeping the needs of future development in the region we request you to impress upon Union Commerce and Industry ministry for early reopening of MSME sub-centre at Mysuru,” MIA President P Vishwanath said.

“We request the Parliamentary Committee to direct the Ministry of MSME to expedite the process of reopening of MSME sub-centre at Mysuru, for which office and infrastructure will be provided by MIA initially,” said Suresh Kumar Jain, General Secretary, MIA.

NSIC sub-centre

MIA also brought to the notice of the Parliamentary Committee that the National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC) sub-centre of Mysuru is not functioning after the transfer of its branch manager to Kerala.

Now MIA requests the committee to direct the ministry to post one manager with one sub-staff in Mysore immediately.

Industrial water supply and power supply should be charged at actual cost of supply for small-scale industries. Separate property tax for industrial sheds and land engaged in manufacturing and service activity is also to be fixed, the MIA said.
