Phase one of the AP Fibre Grid Project for broadband connectivity is expected to be ready by July-end.

As against the target of laying around 22,500 km of aerial optical fibre cable across the State, 16,000 km of cable pulling has been completed so far. A Network Operations Centre (NOC) has also been commissioned at Visakhapatnam.

According to plans, it is targeted to complete the project works by the end of July and, subsequently, deliver triple play services-IPTV, Internet and telephone in a phased manner.

Services to the end-users will be delivered through the interested MSOs (multiple system operators/ LCOs (local systems operator) using their existing network and resources. They will be engaged as business partners with APSFL.

The process of enrolment of MSOs/ LCOs commenced in March 2016 and about 7,900 MSOs/ LCOs have enrolled for the project. The overwhelming response from MSOs/ LCOs resulted in 7,889 enrolments (LCOs-7,146 and MSOs-743) till date. Krishna with 900 enrolments, Guntur (842) and East Godavari (793) topped the list.

To finalise registrations and business partnerships, the remaining interested MSOs/ LCOs have been called upon to enrol with APSFL on  www.apsfl.in  by June 20, 2016.
