The Karnataka-based non-governmental organisation (NGO) Shri Kshethra Dharmasthala Rural Development Project (SKDRDP), which has formed nearly 3.8 lakh self-help groups (SHGs) in the State, is planning to bring all its members under PMJDY (Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojna) accounts by June.

In this regard, 12 lakh members of the SKDRDP have already opened PMJDY accounts. SKDRDP is promoted by D Veerendra Heggade, Dharmadhikari of Dharmasthala Manjunatha Temple.

LH Manjunath, Executive Director of SKDRDP, said all 38 lakh members of these SHGs will have PMJDY accounts by June 2018.

As a part of this, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi will distribute RuPay cards to PMJDY accountholders at Ujire near Dharmasthala in Dakshina Kannada district on October 29.

To make SHG transactions digital, SKDRDP, which is business correspondent (BC) and business facilitator (BF) for State Bank of India (SBI), will enter into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with SBI for providing BHIM (Bharat Interface for Money) UPI app for its SHG members on that day. The app is compatible to the database of 40 different banks in the country.

He said that the members of the SHGs can have their PMJDY accounts in any one of these banks. SKDRDP will act as an aggregator for digital transactions.

Each SHG member will push his/her weekly payment amount from his/her bank account, to be credited to the SHG, through the aggregator.
