The Dakshina Kannada district administration, which is in the process of issuing Urban Property Ownership Records (UPOR) to the citizens of Mangaluru city, has surveyed 1.5 lakh properties in the city for the purpose.

Addressing presspersons in Mangaluru on Thursday, Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil said the government had created a robust system of UPOR to accurately record data related to spatial details of the property and record of rights.

Of the 1.5 lakh properties surveyed in the city, the Revenue department has already collected documents and other records related to 76,608 properties. Draft UPOR cards have been prepared for 31,174 properties in the city.

He said that UPOR, which is maintained by the Revenue department, is a solid document for the property of the citizens concerned. In the coming days, UPOR cards will be made compulsory in a phased manner in the city.

This electronic system will help connect property registration system with municipality and financial institutions. He said that UPOR database includes details of loans taken on the property. An entry will be automatically made in the UPOR database about the grant of loan on property.
