Reliance Entertainment has denied the allegations that it has made any payment to actress-producer Julie Gayet, partner of the former French President Francois Hollande.

Refuting what it termed “deeply shocking” allegations, Reliance Entertainment said it has not signed any agreement with Julie Gayet or her company, Rouge International, nor made any payment to either parties in relation to the film nOmber One .

“It is deeply shocking that, to serve narrow political interests, baseless allegations have been made by deliberately distorting facts and falsely attempting to co-relate a normal business course payment of a relatively small amount of €1.48 million to the supply of 36 fighter jets from France to India valued at nearly €8 billion,” the company said in a statement.

Reliance Entertainment said that “in the ordinary course of its global film business in which it has financed more than 50 international films,” the company has participated in a film project, through one of its partners, French financing firm Visvires Capital.

In January 2016, the Anil Ambani-led company announced a partnership with Gayet’s Rouge International and Elisa Soussan’s myFamily to produce nOmber One .

A spokesperson for Reliance Entertainment said no payment has been made to either Gayet or her company for the film.
