Heavy rains lashed several parts of Bengaluru, especially the Electronic City and White Field where most of the IT companies are located. The city has been receving heavy rains for several days but the downpour on Thursday was the worst in several years.
Bengaluru Traffic Police (BTP) said vehicle movement came to a near halt on Hosur Road near Electronics City, and Mysuru Road near Nayandanahalli, apart from Nehru Circle where water levels had risen to waist length. Traffic crawled at Mekhri Circle on the way to the airport as numerous motorists took shelter in the underpass. JC Road, one of the main arteries of the city, was submerged. Between 1 pm and 2 pm, the Bengaluru city received on average of 42 mm of rainfall. Overall, IMD recorded 65 mm of rainfall till 5.30 pm.
