Rajasthan government has withdrawn the subsidy of Rs 25 on domestic cylinders which was extended by former Congress government, inviting a sharp reaction from the opposition party.

“The order to withdraw the subsidy of Rs 25 on domestic LPG cylinders was issued yesterday,” Additional Commissioner Food Jassarm Chaudhary said today.

He informed that the central subsidy will continue.

The additional subsidy of Rs 25 was announced by Ashok Gehlot led former Congress government in June 2011.

With the government’s decision, the subsidised domestic cylinder will now cost Rs 420 instead of the earlier Rs 395.

PCC President Sachin Pilot targeted the state government saying the government was doing nothing but taking steps to increase inflation.

“This is betrayal with the consumers of the state. The BJP government had promised to control inflation but the government is trying to disturb budget of the consumers and the decision has created resentment among the people,” he said in a statement.
