There seems to be nefarious design to disturb communal harmony in the brutal killings of people like dairy farmer Ummar Khan and migrant farm worker from Bengal, Afrazul Khan, a fact-finding team of Bhumi Adhikar Andolan (BAA), a coalition of farmer organisations, which travelled to Rajasthan recently, said on Monday.

The team, which included two MPs and an MLA from Bihar apart from several farmer leaders and lawyers, visited the places and alleged that the civil and police administration were found to be in collusion with those involved in the crime and that the authorities were more interested in protecting the culprits.

“All those killed were not only poor but also belonged to the Muslim community. Invariably, all of them were living in areas where both Muslims and Hindus peacefully co-existed for a long time. It looked like that these killings were carried out to disturb peace in these places,” said Badrudduzza Khan, CPI (M) MP from West Bengal, who was part of the fact-finding team.
