Retired Supreme Court Judge B Sudarshan Reddy will head a three-member committee to study the working conditions of journalists in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
The Media Education Foundation India (MEFI) has appointed the panel, which includes former UPSC member and veteran journalist Chennamaneni Rajeswar Rao.
“The commission will go into the state of the media and working conditions of journalists in the two States in the wake of reports of death of about 220 journalists in the last four years in Telangana due to work-stress related diseases at a young age,” MEFI Chairman K Sreenivas Reddy said in a statement here.
The commission will hold consultations to elicit the views of working journalists, organisations, intellectuals, media managements and the state governments, he said.
The commission held its first sitting in Hyderabad on Sunday and discussed preliminary issues.
