In a jolt to the Telugu Desam Party, senior leader and legislator Revanth Reddy has submitted his resignation as MLA and from all party posts.

TDP President N Chandrababu Naidu had summoned Reddy and other party leaders for discussions, in Vijayawada on Saturday.

Reddy, however, left for Hyderabad in the afternoon without meeting Naidu as the latter was busy in meetings. He handed over the letter to Naidu’s office. In the letter he recalled his “great journey with the TDP President”, who gave him opportunities to grow in the party.

Reddy emerged as a key TDP leader after the formation of Telangana. He, however, was held in the note-for-vote scandal that seriously affected TDP’s image in the State.

In a well-planned trap, he was caught on camera luring an MLC with bribes. It was an embarrassing moment for Naidu too as his conversation with the MLC had also been recorded.

Reddy is tipped to join the Congress. “People in Telangana are longing for a political realignment,” he said in his resignation letter.
