Cochin Shipyard was awarded the certificate of excellence by the Department of Factories and Boilers for outstanding performance in industrial safety in the category of Very Large Factories - Engineering (employing more than 500 workers).
The award was presented by the Minister for Labour and Rehabilitation Shibhu Baby John to N.V. Suresh Babu, general manger (ship repair), Cochin Shipyard Ltd. A.L. Jackson, chief safety officer and AGM, Cochin Shipyard, received first prize for individual safety officer category.
The shipyard has been receiving awards for its exemplary performance in industrial safety for the last three consecutive years.
