Want to go fishing in the sea with your friends or prefer a pleasure ride in the sailboats? Tourists visiting Panambur and Mulki beaches in Dakshina Kannada will now get a chance to savour the sailboat experience.
Yatish Baikampady, Chief Executive Officer of Panambur Beach Tourism Development Project, told Business Line that sailboats were not in much use along the coast after the introduction of engines in boats.
Joint venturePanambur Beach Tourism Development Project and Kamath Marine, which have formed a joint venture, have made an effort to revive this experience. This tourist attraction will be a major pleasure experience for tourists along Dakshina Kannada coast, he said.
To begin with, two sailboats will be placed along the coast. One will be placed at Mulki and another at Panambur beach, he said.
One boat can carry six to eight members, where they can do fishing, dolphin sighting, or just experience a pleasure ride in sea, he said, adding that the boat will be rented out on hourly basis.
Launch todayAsked about the safety aspects, he said it is as safe as any other boat. However, there is an outboard engine for use in case of emergency. The outboard engine can also be used when there is no wind to power the boat, he said.
Baikampady said that Nivedith Alva, Chairman of the Karnataka Coastal Development Authority, will launch the sailboat at Panambur on Wednesday.
