Among the most keenly awaited releases of 2013, ‘Shootout At Wadala’ has sweeped the domestic box office, netting an opening weekend of Rs 30.7 crore. Though on Friday, the movie grossed Rs 10.10 crore, on Saturday it slid to Rs 9.75 crore, while on Sunday it shot up again to Rs 10.85 crore.
The movie opened across 1900+ screens across the country and recorded the third highest opening in 2013 on its first day, despite the ongoing Indian Premier League, according to a statement from the Company.
Various rights of the multi-starrer have already been sold contributing additional revenues. These include music, home video, overseas, etc.
Directed by Sanjay Gupta, the movie stars Anil Kapoor, John Abraham, Tusshar and Manoj Bajpayee, and dramatises the first-ever registered encounter by the Mumbai Police in 1982. It is the next installment in the Shootout series, the first being Shootout At Lokhandwala in 2007.
