Keel Laying ceremony of the sixth of the new class Offshore Patrol Vessels (OPVs) indigenously designed in–house and being built by Goa Shipyard Ltd (GSL), south Goa-based defence shipyard for the Indian Coast Guard was held at GSL on Monday. Chairman and MD of GSL, Shekhar Mital, said, “The first vessel will be ready for delivery as per schedule by October 15 and we expect to deliver all six vessels by 2017.” These vessels for the Indian Coast Guard are based on in-house design of GSL. When commissioned, these vessels will be the most advanced Patrol Vessels in service with the Indian Coast Guard, said a spokesperson of GSL on Monday.
