Union Minister Smriti Irani on Monday hit out at Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of favouring vote-bank politics over development.
Citing a recent speech by Rahul, she said he had mocked the dreams and aspirations of Gujaratis, and it would only result in a historic defeat for the Congress in the upcoming Assembly elections. “Tall leaders like Sardar Patel and Morarji Desai have been badly humiliated by the Nehru-Gandhi family and this trend continues with Narendra Modi,” she said, adding that the UPA government was against raising the height of the Narmada Dam.
She said the Congress had been concocting stories to defame Gujaratis. “The people of Gujarat will give a befitting answer to this slander and keep this ‘Sultanate of Corruption’ as far from them as possible,” she added.
