SPAR Hypermarkets has opened a new store in Hyderabad, taking its chain of stores to 18 in the country. Spread over 65,000 sq.ft, the store is situated at Paradise Mall at Mallapur in the city limits.

After inaugurating the new store here, Rajeev Krishnan, Managing Director of SPAR Hypermarkets, said, “We came to Hyderabad in 2008 with the objective of offering Hypermarket experience to customers. The last two stores we opened were at Kukatpally and Kondapur and now, we have added one. This resonates the trust and satisfaction the customers have in us.”

“We are expanding our network at a fast pace and expect to see a growth of about 30 per cent over the next 12-18 months. Last year we closed with revenues of over Rs 1,000 crore,” he said.

The private label business contributes to about 10 per cent of the total business and efforts are on to further expand the labels.

“We believe that there is no substitute for in-store experience. While a section of buyers do want to shop online, we will provide them with the option to shop online. A dedicated team is working on developing online channels,” he said.

SPAR Hypermarkets is operated in India by Max Hypermarkets, part of the Dubai-based Landmark Group. SPAR Hypermarkets is one of the largest independent retail chains with presence in over 40 countries with over 12,000 stores.
