The ruling Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) roped-in its yet another star campaigner and senior party leader, Sushma Swaraj to interact with women in Gujarat. At the town hall interaction organised by the State party unit in Ahmedabad on Saturday, the External Affairs Minister appealed the women in State to take advantage of the Government schemes and incentives for securing employment and entrepreneurship.

On Friday, Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath traveled in the tribal region of South Gujarat appraising the local community about the State's development.

"There are 142 women-specific schemes in Gujarat. They are all for the welfare and empowerment of women. I would appeal to you to understand these schemes and take advantage of government efforts to suit your requirements. The state has allocated budget of over Rs 3600 crore for women welfare schemes," Swaraj said responding to questions asked by women.

At the town hall meeting, the EAM also took a dig at the opponents about their allegations on BJP for being anti-women party. "The BJP has given four women Chief Ministers, six ministers in the Narendra Modi cabinet including a Defence Minister. Prior to our government, there was never a woman member to CCS. Now we have two women as CCS members," Swaraj said addressing a large gathering of women.

BJP's Gujarat unit conducted townhall to connect women from across the state with EAM and engage with her during the question-answer session. Over 100,000 women from distant places like Navsari, Banaskantha, Rajkot connected through video conferencing, townhall and social media such as facebook.

Swaraj also mentioned that as the EAM, she rescued 88,302 Indians stranded in troubled regional outside India. "At the time of rescue, we don't look at their caste, community or religion. We look at their Indian passport," Swaraj told the gathering adding that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's foreign visits, during which he developed personal relations with world leaders, helped make it easy to rescue Indians from some of the worst troubled regions such as Yemen.

"As many as 48 nations sought our help to rescue their citizens as the Saudi Crown had developed friendly relations with Narendra Modiji during his visit to Saudi Arabia. Apart from 3500 Indians, we also helped rescue over 1900 other nationals too," Swaraj stated.
