The Tamil Nadu government has assured the industry of its commitment to ease of doing business and attracting investments to the State.

The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami today assured industry representatives from the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) of easy access for industry to meet with senior government officials, including himself, according to a member of the delegation.

The Chief Minister had reacted positively to industry’s request to include approvals for brownfield expansions under the single window system for clearances, the member said. A facility will be provided in the single-window clearance mechanism soon.

The delegation included Vinod Dasari, Managing Director, Ashok Leyland; KM Mammen, Chairman and MD, MRF Ltd; Venu Srinivasan, Chairman and MD, TVS Motor Company; R Dinesh, Joint Managing Director, TVS & Sons; CK Ranganathan, CMD, Cavinkare; P Ravichandran, President, Danfoss Industries; M Ponnuswami, Group CMD, Pon Pure Chemicals Group and P Shivakumar, CEO, Apollo Hospitals, according to an official note.

The Chief Minister has sent out a heartening message to the industry with the meeting, the member said.

Industries Minister MC Sampath, Chief Secretary Girija Vaidyanathan, Finance Secretary K Shanmugam and K Gnanadesikan, Additional Chief Secretary-Industries, were present.

“There wasn’t any agenda and it was not a structured meeting. The top industrialists met the CM and he offered to extend any help from the government related to industry. They were all pleased with his approach. We have also told the industry that we will be available to them to sort out any specific issue,” Gnanadesikan told BusinessLine .

An industry representative pointed that the Chief Minister should meet industrialists from various sectors often for valuable feedback in order to maintain a friendly investment climate. “Such meetings are the need of the hour as neighbouring states are aggressively trying to snatch new investments from Tamil Nadu,” he said on condition of anonymity.
