The Telangana Government has allotted Rs 263 crore for addressing the drinking water challenge in the summer.

Minister for Panchayat Raj and Information Technology K T Rama Rao has asked the district collectors on Monday to see to it that all the habitats in the State get sufficient drinking water in the next two months.

"We have allotted Rs 263 crore for the purpose. If you still fall short of funds, we will sanction more funds," he told them during a video-conference.

He also wanted them to issue job cards under the national rural employment guarantee scheme for the needy. "Take up productive works under the scheme," he said.

He asked them to come with a detailed action plan on NREGA when they come for the Collectors' conference scheduled to be held on April 9 and 10.
