Tamil Nadu’s commercial tax revenue in April 2016 has grown by 6.41 per cent over the same month last year.
According to an official press release, the State tax revenue was ₹4,575 crore in April 2016, up from ₹4,299 crore in the same month last year.
In 2015-16, the State’s commercial tax revenue was ₹61,709 crore, 2 per cent higher than in the previous year when it was ₹60,314 crore.
The government will intensify tax collection measures and settlement of dues to ensure growth, the release said.
Over 91 per cent of traders and business people are filing their returns electronically and 87 per cent making payments online. In the interim budget filed earlier this year, the previous government had estimated commercial taxes to grow at 11.69 per cent to ₹72,326 crore over 2015-16.
