Tamilnadu Foodgrains Merchants Association has expressed its appreciation to Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa for announcing a slew of measures in the Assembly for increasing power generation in the State.
Hydel project
In a letter addressed to the Chief Minister, the association has welcomed the announcement to implement a hydel project to generate 2000 MW electricity at a cost of Rs 7,000 crore in Nilgiris district, solar power of 3,000 MW of electricity through solar power in the next three years, subsidy of Rs 20,000 per KW on capital investment for setting up of solar panels on roof tops of every house.
It has also welcomed the announcement to procure 1,000 MW electricity per month from October for the next 15 years, as also the investment in the infrastructure at a cost of Rs 2,300 crore to carry electricity through wind and solar sources.
