While closure of business establishments was not unexpected, traffic signals in various parts of the city went into slumber and strangely petrol bunks too chose to remain closed from around 10 pm last night.

But for the skeletal traffic, mostly private cars and two wheelers, people by and large preferred to remain indoors since morning.

No major untoward incident has been reported so far.
