Triton Solar company of the USA has entered into an MoU with AP Economic Development Board to set up a solar battery manufacturing plant in AP under the public private partnership mode.

The plant helps in switching over to electrical vehicles and secures 200 mw solar power storage supply to meet the state's energy needs.

The company came forward to set up a solar battery manufacturing plant at a cost of Rs 727 cr after Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, currently on a visit to the USA, held discussions with the delegates of the company. When the Chief Minister explained the priority of the State Govt to introduce electrical vehicles in the state, company chairman Himansu Patel and Managing Partner Nand Sandilya came forward to set up the plant in the state.

The company representatives entered into an MoU with EDB in the presence of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, Principal secretary of Industry and investments Ajay Jain, and AP Economic Development board CEO Jasti Krishna Kishore.

The company representatives said the solar battery unit would produce batteries based on nano and lithium polymer technology. They said that the company would generate a lot of employment opportunities to local youth. In addition, it would help reduce vehicular pollution in the state.
