Chennaiites today got another food-delivery facility with the ride share app Uber’s UberEATS staring operations in the city. Consumers can order using a separate UberEATS app from Android or iOS.

The company has tied up with 200 restaurants and has over 200 delivery partners serving some parts of the city. Bhavik Rathod, Head, UberEATS India, said the service soon be extended across Chennai.

Uber will get its revenue through the service charge from its restaurant partner and delivery fee of ₹1 from the consumer.

Rathod said the service charge for consumers will remain till the Chennai market picks momentum.

UberEATS was first launched in India in May in Mumbai. The service currently available also in New Delhi, Gurgaon, Bengaluru and Chandigarh. It has partnered over 2000 restaurants in the country. There are plans to expand to other cities like Hyderabad, Pune and Kolkata soon.
