ProZorro, Ukraine’s e-procurement system for government tender backed by a central database, has won the Citi T4I Award.

One of the six demos that Citi lines up across the world, the Tech for Integiry Challenge (T4I) asked technology innovators to come up with solutions in the areas of financial transactions, cyber security and addressing red tape.

ProZorro, built by anti-corruption organisation Transparency International Ukraine with the help of NGOs and State bodies, was among the products and solutions presented by 19 start-ups to a panel comprising top technology experts, here on Tuesday.

The other five ‘Demo Days’ — when companies showcase solutions to Citi audience and allied stakeholders — are held in Mexico, Buenos Aires, Dublin, Singapore and Abu Dhabi. The T4I winners from the six demos will get an aggregate of $5.5 million worth of cash and non-cash prizes.

Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday on the sidelines of the Demo Day, Anand Chopra, Head (Operations and Technology) of Citi South Asia, said there were 309 entries from India out about a thousand for the challenge.

Apart from ProZorro, Crediwatch Information Analytics won the special award from the Telangana government and the Peer Choice Award for its product that curates data.

Janaagraha Centre for Citizenship and Democracy won the Audience Choice Award for its citizen-driven reporting platform for keeping tab on bribery.

The start-ups will get help from the partnering companies and organisations in the form of references to prospective customers.

Telangana Secretary for IT and Industry Jayesh Ranjan, who sat through the demos, said that the State will offer the winners a chance to work with the Government to rollout its products and services.

“There is a huge potential for solutions like offline digital payment solutions and e-auction platform,” he said.
