An under construction bridge in Kakdwip area of South 24-Parganas, approximately 80 km from Kolkata, collapsed on Monday. The bridge was being constructed on the Kallaginni river. No casualties have been reported so far.

This is the third such incident reported in West Bengal this month. On September 4, the city’s key rail overbridge collapsed at Majerhat on NH-117, severely impacting traffic movement to the south-western part of the city. On September 7, a small bridge collapsed near Siliguri in North Bengal.
