Fourteen newly-elected mayors, who won as BJP candidates in Uttar Pradesh recently, will be felicitated in Ahmedabad on December 12.

Addressing an election meeting at Junagarh on Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the Congress has been “wiped out” in the recently-held elections in its once-strongest fortress — Uttar Pradesh — where the BJP candidates have won mayoral polls in 14 out of 16 municipal corporations.

The Congress “miserably” lost in a State where the people regarded the Nehru-Gandhi family as rajas and maharajas, he said.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adiyanath is also expected to be present.

Earlier, Modi said in Dharampur (ST) Assembly constituency in Valsad district that the Congress had turned “bankrupt”.

It miserably lost all the recent polls in Uttar Pradesh which was the k armabhoomi of the Gandhi-Nehru family for five generations, he added.
