Cardamom traders of Idukki district will receive their value-added tax (VAT) refunds within a month, according to Finance Minister K. M. Mani.
An official spokesman quoted the Minister as saying that, under existing rules, the VAT refund would usually take a year after the traders take part in the cardamom auction.
The rules were now being amended to ensure issue of refund during the month immediately following the auction.
The system of collecting a two per cent Central Sales Tax in advance from growers at the check-posts would be discontinued, the Minister said.
