Walmart India today extended the reach of its online wholesale platform to members in Jalandhar and Ludhiana in Punjab.
At present, the U.S.-based retail giant operates B2B e-commerce platform in five cities in the country - Lucknow, Hyderabad, Guntur, Rajahmundry and Vijayawada.
”... B2B e-commerce platform for all members of Jalandhar and Ludhiana Best Price Modern Wholesale stores, marking its first in Punjab,” the company said in a statement.
Walmart operates five wholesale stores in Punjab in Amritsar, Bhatinda, Jalandhar, Ludhiana and Zirakpur.
“We have received an overwhelming response from our members in Lucknow, Hyderabad, Guntur Vijayawada and Rajahmundry and are certain that members in Punjab too would benefit significantly,” Walmart India President and Chief Executive Officer Krish Iyer said.
The platform, www.bestprice.in , is for registered members of Best Price Modern Wholesale stores.
At present, Walmart is engaged in cash-and-carry business in India. It had called off a six-year partnership with Bharti Enterprises in October 2013.
The U.S. retail giant operates 20 wholesale stores under the brand ‘Best Price’ in India.
