Union Home Minister and senior BJP leader Rajnath Singh said that the NDA government and his party are committed to developing a new Andhra Pradesh after bifurcation, and to implement the provisions of the AP Re-organisation Act, 2014.

At a ceremony here on Tuesday for the construction of the State BJP office at Mangalagiri in Guntur district, near the State capital Amaravati. he said that the NDA had so far released more than Rs 6,500 crore for the construction of the mega Polavaram irrigation project on the Godavari and that the Union government also released Rs 1,500 crore for the construction of the new capital, Amaravati; in addition to ₹1,000 crore for Vijayawada and Guntur.

‘Coalition dharma’

He said that his party was sticking to “the coalition dharma” and respecting friends, and “yet Telugu Desam Party has chosen to part ways with us. I fail to understand why. Instead, the TDP has joined hands with the Congress, which is on a ventilator, and trying to revive it. It is inexplicable to me why AP Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has chosen such a course of action.”

Rajnath Singh castigated the Congress party for not showing due respect to the former Prime Minister and “Telugu Bidda” (son of the soil of AP) P.V Narasimha Rao, and said that his party always puts national interest above political interest; and that it always held P.V Narasimha Rao in high esteem, as “he was the architect of economic reforms.”

He said he was confident that the BJP would surge ahead in Andhra Pradesh and do exceedingly well in the coming elections.
