The Andhra Pradesh government is expediting work on the new capital, Amaravati, and tenders have been floated for works worth ₹22,000 crores, according to State Minister for Municipal Administration P Narayana.

He sought cooperation from all sections of society to develop Amaravati as a world-class capital as envisaged by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu. Ministers P Narayana and P Pulla Rao inaugurated Amaravati Deep Dive, a two-day workshop here on Thursday.

On the occasion, the Minister said the design for Assembly, the High Court and government complexs are getting finalised, and the Assembly designs have been placed in the public domain, inviting suggestions. He said the trunk infrastructure will be completed in 12 months. A total of 1,640 kilometres of roads has to be laid in the capital region.

“The road infrastructure in the capital region will be completed in a year,” said Lakshmi Parthasarathi, Chairperson, Amaravati Development Corporation.

Capital development

Presenting a status report on Amaravati development, Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) Commissioner Ch Sridhar said CRDA had completed 1,080 days, and 95 per cent land pooling has been completed. Praising the farmers for offering 33,000 acres of land for capital development, he said that 59,000 plots were distributed to farmers in return of their gesture.

He said development works worth ₹ 13,500 cr were grounded, and nine international schools are coming up in the capital region.
