The BJP, which is on a mission to win 150 seats in the May 12 Karnataka Assembly elections, on Monday released its second list of 82 candidates.
Elections observers say BJP’s chief ministerial candidate BS Yeddyurappa has had his way in candidate selection.
The names of four BJP MLAs who had gone to jail for various reasons, including Bellary mining baron Gali Somashekhara Reddy figure in the party list. While he will contest from Ballari City, Katta Subramanya Naidu will fight elections from Shivajinagar in Bengaluru, Krishnaiah Shetty from Malur in Kolar district, and Haratalu Halappa from Sagara in Shivamogga district.
The BJP has also accommodated three defectors in Kumar Bangarappa (Soraba in Shivamogga), NL Narendra Babu (Mahalakshmi layout in Bengaluru) and Sandesh Swamy (Narasimharaja).
The list has 32 Lingayat names, 10 from the Vokkaliga community, 20 OBCs and others. The first and second list has no Muslim or Christian candidates.
