The Road Transport and Highways Ministry will bring in norms to promote increased usage of bio-diesel and bio-CNG in vehicles by December, Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari said while speaking at the PHD Chamber’s annual session.
Gadkari also added that he has spoken to KfW Bank of Germany to find out if they can provide low-cost, long-term capital so that buses under the State Governments can be converted to electric-powered buses. He added that BS VI norms for vehicles will be brought in by 2021.
Gadkari, who is also the Shipping Minister, said there was scope for people to develop small islands of India. The Minister said he has offered Baba Ramdev of Patanjali Yogpeeth the option of developing a small island to promote yoga. Incidentally, Ramdev has established a Patanjali Yogpeeth on an island in Scotland.
