The Centre has come up with a novel initiative to get people’s queries on the proposed GST system addressed in a timely manner. A new Twitter handle — @askGST_GOI — has been set up for this purpose.
“To reply to queries on GST, a new Twitter account is opened. My officers will give replies asap @askGST_GOI. Please send queries there now,” Revenue Secretary Hasmukh Adhia tweeted.
The move is significant as the Centre and States are working towards GST introduction from July 1.
Although only 30 days are left for the tax reform to take off, awareness levels are still low among small businesses. The GST Council has already fixed the new rates. Nearly half the 29 States in the country have passed their SGST laws.
