The office of the Commissioner of Customs, Mangaluru, has launched an ‘online customs guide for international passengers’.
Launching the web link for this guide at Mangaluru International Airport on Friday, Rajiv Bhusahn Tiwari, Chief Commissioner of Customs, Bengaluru zone, said each passenger will have different queries on subjects related to Customs.
The web platform will help the passenger get the information related to Customs at one point. It will give information on the baggage passengers can carry with them, the duty to be paid wherever necessary, etc.
Detailed infoThe web link will give the passengers an idea of the items they can and cannot carry, and the duty structure on various items they carry with them.
Tiwari asked airlines officials and travel agents to popularise the web link with the passengers.
M Subramanyam, Commissioner of Customs, Mangaluru, said that the ‘online customs guide for international passengers’ has been designed and developed by the Customs unit of the National Informatics Centre in Mangaluru.
Rise in trafficJT Radhakrishna, Airport Director, Mangaluru International Airport, said the number of weekly international flights from the airport went up from three in 2006 to 58 flights now.
In such a situation, an online guide will be of use to the passengers, he said.
