Cine star and Jana Sena Party leader Pawan Kalyan is planning a State-wide bus yatra from Ichhapuram in Srikakulam district from May 20.

He told the media here on Thursday after holding a meeting of the party’s core committee that on the yatra, he would highlight how the BJP and the TDP had failed to fulfil their election promises. It would, he added, not just be a bus yatra.

“I will also undertake a padayatra, interact with the people at the grassroots, learn more about their problems and chalk out a strategy on how to solve them,” he said.

The yatra in the three North Andhra districts will last 45 days.

He stressed the need to ensure political accountability and said that the BJP had failed to keep its promise to grant special category status to Andhra Pradesh and the TDP had failed in getting the promise fulfilled by its erstwhile ally. Both parties failed to fulfill their election promises, he noted.

Protest meetings

He said that he would organise protest meetings in all 175 Assembly constituencies.

A protest march would be held at all the district headquarters, with nearly one lakh students and youth, to express their ire at the performance of the BJP at the Centre and the TDP in the State.
