Following the detection of a new Covid-19 positive case on Silver Park Road in the heart of Bengaluru, the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has sealed the road and imposed strict containment zone measures, leading to confusion and anxiety among computer assemblers who operate shops there.
The road is a popular trading hub for electrical and electronic goods.
The development is a set back as work from home is gaining traction and more buyers are looking to buy computer parts/accessories.
According to BBMP war room report, the city had reported 397 cases, of which 237 have been discharged, 148 were active cases and 11 people have died.
The 148 active cases are spread over 39 containment zones in eight BBMP zones — Bommanahalli (6 containment zones), Mahadevapura (6 ), East (7 ), south (4 ), West (11 ), Yelahanka (2 ), Rajarajeshwari nagar (2 ) and Dasarahalli (1 ).
The BBMP War room report said, the city’s positivity rate is 1 per cent, which is on par with the State average and much better when compared with other major cities. Also the city’s active rate is 41 per cent and recovery rate is at 59 per cent.
So for in the city, 33,070 tests have been conducted and there are 68 containment zones in all.
