The Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) has issued directions to the Kolkata-based Graphite India to close the manufacturing operations at its plant at Whitefield in Bengaluru forthwith. The KSPCB direction is pursuant to the order issued by the National Green Tribunal last month.

In a notification to the bourses on Tuesday, Graphite India said that it has begun closing down graphite furnaces in a phased manner.

The company has given an undertaken to the KSPCB to shut manufacturing operations completely by February 23. It does not expect any material impact on its operations as a result of the shutdown in Karnataka, the company said.
