Water, drought and relief, and transforming agriculture are some of the items on the agenda for the fifth Governing Council meeting of the NITI Aayog.
The meeting will be chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and will be held at the Rashtrapati Bhavan on June 15.
The Governing Council reviews the action taken on the items in the agenda of the previous meeting and deliberates on the future developmental priorities. Till now, four meetings of the Governing Council have been held under the Chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The Governing Council of NITI Aayog comprises the Prime Minister, Chief Ministers of all the States and Lieutenant Governors of Union Territories, and other special invitees. It is the premier body tasked with evolving a shared vision of national development priorities, sectors and strategies with the active involvement of States, an official statement said.
The special invitees to the fifth meeting include the National Security Adviser, Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Minister of Jal Shakti and the Minister of Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries.
