President of India Pranab Mukherjee arrived here today on a day’s visit to participate in the 150th anniversary celebrations of the Madras High Court.
This is his first visit outside Delhi, after assuming office of the President.
Mukherjee, who was received by Tamil Nadu Governor K. Rosaiah, Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa and some of her ministerial colleagues, was given a guard of honour at the airport.
The President, who will be felicitated by the Madras Chamber of Commerce, will leave for Tirupati later in the day.
