Federation of Housing Societies and Developers of Delhi on Thursday held demonstration against the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) demanding immediate rollback of the modified land pooling policy and sought implementation of earlier approved policy.

The Federation accused DDA of arbitrarily changing earlier policy to facilitate private builders/developers. It said that the new policy would hurt farmers and middle class.

“The Land Pooling Policy, which was notified by the Ministry of Urban Development on September 5, 2013, and thereafter, the regulation for operationalisation of the policy was proposed on May 26, 2015. But now DDA has arbitrarily proposed a modified policy, which will have drastic consequences as it will make getting homes out of reach of the common man,” said Satish Aggarwal, Secretary of the Federation.

He said the policy was notified after due consultation with various stakeholders, including farmers, societies and subject experts and it was envisaged that the notified policy will provide about 25 lakh affordable housing units for the people of Delhi. These proposed modifications have made the policy impractical with highly damaging consequences for the entire city of Delhi, he added.
