Renowned industrialist Ratan Tata today met the Shiv Sena Executive President Uddhav Thackeray and condoled the passing away of Sena chief Bal Thackeray.
Tata who was not in Mumbai when the 86-year-old Thackeray passed away in November, had described him as “a strong leader of his people”.
Tata met Uddhav, his son Aditya and other members of the Thackeray family at “Matoshree” in suburban Bandra, Sena leader Milind Narvekar said.
Tata had also visited Matoshree two months before Thackeray’s demise to enquire about the health of the Sena patriarch, Sena sources said.
In his condolence message, Tata had described Thackeray as a “strong leader of his people — respected and admired by many.” Thackeray left his mark on Mumbai and Maharashtra, he had said.
