The Maharashtra Government on Monday termed builders seeking a No Objection Certificate from consumers wanting to buy or resell their flats as ‘illegal’. Calling it an act of harassment, it has asked the people to report such cases to the district authorities.
The office of the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, in a media statement, said that under the Maharashtra Ownership of Flats Act, NOC from the builder is not required. However, builders illegally extract money from consumers for issuing such certificates.
The statement added that if Government officials insist on such certificates, then people should report such matters to the higher authorities.
